Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday approved the design of the proposed Odia University at Satyabadi in Puri district.
Secretary Department of Works, Krishan Kumar made a presentation on the design which has been on the lines of the Satyabadi Van Vidyalaya.
The design provides for a tranquil and free environment for imparting education and students will have facilities to research in Odia language, literature and culture.
A high level committee chaired by the Chief Secretary will take a final decision on the project.
Notably, Satyabadi Van Vidyalaya, founded by Pandit Gopabandhu Dash, ably supported by Krupasindhu Mishra, Harihara Das, Pandit Nilakantha Das and Godavarish Mishra has produced several eminent personalities imparting teaching in patriotism, service, knowledge and nationalism.
The Odia language has a rich culture and has been recognized as sixth Indian classical language.
Secretary to Chief Minister 5-T VK Pandian coordinated the function attended by Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, Development Commissioner PK Jena and secretaries of various department.
