Bhubaneswar: Some cinestars-turned politicians made by the BJD like Sidhant Mohapatra, Anubhav Mohanty, Akash Dasnayak and Arindam and few MLAs left the BJD. On the other hand, the ruling party continued to add new assets in the party from BJP and Congress.
The BJD has welcomed three senior organizers and ex-MLA Chiranjib Biswal, and MLA Sukanta Nayak into party fold today. Shri Biswal has his hold in Jagatsinghpur, Balikuda-Erasama, Tirtol, and Paradip Assembly constituencies.
Just two days after resigning from BJP, Nilagiri MLA Sukanta Nayak today formally joined Biju Janata Dal (BJD) at Sankha Bhawan. Nayak along with his supporters rejoined the BJD in presence of senior BJD leader Pratap Keshari Deo and Rajya Sabha member Sasmit Patra.
It was like home coming for Shri Nayak. The two-time MLA returned to the ruling party with thousands of supporters.
Moreover, former Kuchinda MLA Brundaban Majhi also returned to the BJD today with only some days left for the twin elections. He was inducted into the governing party at Sankha Bhawan in the presence of Rajya Sabha Member Sasmit Patra.
Shri Majhi, who has resigned from BJD ahead of 2019 elections, again rejoined the party.
Tribal leader Shri Majhi had won from Kuchinda on a Janata Dal ticket in 1990. He, however, contested the 2004 Assembly elections from Laikera Assembly constituency as a BJP candidate and defeated his rival Congress candidate and former chief minister Hemananda Biswal. He then joined the BJD in 2009, but was defeated in the election. This time, the party may nominate him for the Kuchinda assembly seat.
