Bhubaneswar: Renowned Odia film actor and former MLA Akash Das Nayak today joined the BJP, a day after resigning from the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
Shri Nayak joined the BJP here in presence of State President Manmohan Samal and many senior leaders and recently joined cinestars Sidhant Mohapatra and Arindam Roy.
Akash said he joined the BJP inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for Vikashit Bharat and for the overall development of Odisha. “I will work for the development of Jajpur and to protect Odia pride,” he said.
Shri Das Nayak, a renowned Odia film actor, was elected to the state assembly from Korei seat in 2014. Though BJD denied him ticket in 2019 election, he remained in the party with a hope to get MLA ticket in this election.
However, it seems that the BJD leadership is not in a mood to offer him a party ticket for the 2024 poll, for which he resigned from the BJD. So, he quit the BJD and joined the BJP. The saffron party is likely to give him a MLA ticket from Korei in this election.
