Bhubaneswar: With the approaching Assembly and general elections, Chief Minister and BJD President Naveen Patnaik once again hit out at the Opposition BJP and Congress strongly.
The Chief Ministers slammed the Opposition parties while addressing party leaders and workers on the launching of BJD’s ‘Jan Sampark Padayatra’ programme here on Monday. The Padayatra will continue across the State till October 11.
Without naming any party or leader, Shri Patnaik said, “They (Opposition) are misleading people with false information. Whenever an election is approaching, they are adopting such practice, but always rejected by the people,”
He alleged that the opposition is trying to stall and conspire against the Lord Jagannath and Lord Lingaraj temple projects. But, the people will never forgive them, he said.
“People very well know about the anti-people and anti-development strategy of the opposition parties……the people will never forgive those who opposed redressal of their grievances,” he stated.
With the passing of the Women Reservation Bill in Parliament, the party’s long-standing demand was fulfilled, the Chief Minister said.
He said that Odisha is moving forward towards transformation, which has enhanced the self confidence of the people. Odisha has set a benchmark for other states in food security, disaster management, sports and IT. The State has secured second position in the entire India in attracting investments, Shri Patnaik pointed out.
The BJD government is working for the development and empowerment of women, poor, youth and SC & ST communities. However, the opposition parties are not happy with the developments of the state, he alleged.
He said the State Government’s Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) has brought a revolution in the healthcare sector. It has enhanced the expectation of people from the system.
The Government’s school transformation program has helped to bridge the gap between government and private schools, he added.
The BJD Chief urged his party leaders and workers to spread the message of development to every household in the state.
This was not for the first time, the Chief Minister has lashed out at the Opposition parties.
Recently, making a statement inside the Assembly also, Shri Patnaik criticized the Opposition partied for politicizing very sensitive crime cases. It seems that the BJD has came to election mode and leaving no opportunity to blame the Opposition.
“I am pained to see politicization of very sensitive cases for narrow vested interests. This is an injustice to the victims of the case, to the committed police persons who work night and day and also to the people of Odisha,” he had stated.
Reacting to the statement made by the Chief Minister, State BJP MLA Suryabanshi Suraj said, “The way allegations are being levelled against the Odisha Government, it seems that the BJD is trying to escape by blaming the Opposition.”
“In the last 23 years of BJD’s governance, the State registers over 1300 murders and 3100 rapes every year. The State ranks 14th in development of infrastructure and 13th in law and order situation in the country, he alleged.
“If the Odisha government claims that grievances cell has reached people’s doorstep, then why scores of people are forced to stage demonstrations in Bhubaneswar,” he questioned.
Similarly, senior Congress leader Narasingha Mishra said that the Chief Minister’s statement is not based on facts. “Chief Minister, who was elected five times, is very much acquainted with the strategy to win the election. I want to ask those, who are claiming that they are winning on development, whether they know the meaning of development?”
One state and country prospers if there is development of education. The CM should know this elementary thing, Shri Mishra said.
