Bhubaneswar: The audacious attack on a public servant in broad daylight has sparked widespread condemnation across the political spectrum. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has been urged to take swift and stringent action against not only those who perpetrated the violence but also the political leaders who may have orchestrated and conspired in this “shameful attack.”

Leader of Opposition, Naveen Patnaik, has also condemned the incident, demanding severe action against the criminals involved. He emphasized that if a senior officer is not safe in his own office, the law and order situation for ordinary citizens comes into question. Shri posted it on X.

Following the assault, BMC employees immediately staged a massive sit-in protest (dharna) at the office premises, halting all work and demanding enhanced security measures for government staff. The protests led to significant traffic disruption on Janpath, a major thoroughfare in Bhubaneswar, as employees blocked the road to voice their demands. BMC Mayor Sulochana Das also condemned the incident, calling for swift justice and warning of further action if no significant steps are taken.

BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan, while condemning the incident and stating his willingness to cooperate with the police, noted that he had identified two individuals from the video footage. BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi also condemned the attack, stating that such actions are not aligned with the party’s ideology and demanding legal and party-level action against the culprits.

The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of public servants and the sanctity of government offices, prompting calls for a thorough probe and robust measures to prevent such occurrences in the future. The people of Odisha are keenly watching to see if the government will restore faith in its administration by ensuring that this heinous act does not go unpunished.
