Bhubaneswar: Several police personnel from Odisha have been selected to receive police medals on the occasion of Independence Day 2026, as announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The recognition highlights individual excellence, courageous service, and dedicated duty across senior and operational ranks of the Odisha Police force.
Leading the list of awardees, Director General rank officer Shri Sanjeeb Panda, currently heading Anti-Naxal Operations, has been conferred the prestigious President’s Medal for Distinguished Service. His key operational guidance in counter-insurgency and anti-Naxal operations earned top honors at the national level.
The list of standard and meritorious medal recipients continues through the organizational hierarchy. Following senior executive leadership, officers in the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), such as Shrimati Smitarani Mohanty has been conferred the prestigious President’s Medal for Distinguished Service.
Senior police and security personnel from Odisha have also been named in the official list recognizing distinguished service and dedication to duty.
The officers recognized from the state include Deputy Superintendents of Police Shri Manoranjan Paikray and Shri Suresh Kumar Bal, Inspector Smt.Gitanjalee Panda, Deputy Commandant Shri Bhabesh Kumar Nayak, and Assistant Commandant Shri Paresh Kumar Minati Nandan Pati.
Also featured on the list for their exemplary service are Sub Inspector Shri Barun Kumar Naik, Havildars Shri Subash Chandra Trinath Gouda and Prasanta Kumar Biswas, alongside Constables Smt.Shyamali Biswas and Mustaque Alli Khan.
The recognition highlights the outstanding performance and unwavering commitment displayed by personnel across various ranks of the Odisha police force. Official felicitations and honors for the awardees are scheduled to be presented shortly.
