More Rains With Fresh Low Pressure

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday said another low pressure area is likely to form over Bay of Bengal around July 28.

“A fresh Low Pressure Area is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal & neighborhood around 28th July. This will bring more rain for the State,” the Bhubaneswar Met Center officials said.

The Met Center has predicted thunderstorm with lightning in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Koraput, Khurda, Puri, Kandhamal and Nayagarh today.

Few places of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Boudh districts would receive thunderstorm on July 26, it said.

However, heavy rainfall would occur in some places of Keonjhar & Mayurbhanj on July 27 and in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Sambalpur on the next day (July 28).

Besides, few places of Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Kendrapara Cuttack, Angul, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Deogarh and Sonepur would experience heavy downpour on July 29.

At the same time, thunderstorms along with lightning would continue to occur in some places of the State till July 30, the Met department said.

During this monsoon season (from June 1 to July 25), the State has received 397.9 mm rainfall, which is 18 per cent less than the normal rainfall. At least 12 districts have recorded a deficit rainfall.
