Bhubaneswar: The State Government has given in-principle approval for three infrastructure projects worth Rs 62.75 crore for two government hospitals in South Odisha.
Health and Family Welfare Secretary Shalini Pandit has issued three different orders while giving Administrative Approvals for the projects.
The Health Department has accorded its nod for construction of an OPD and IPD mother and child care hospital complex (G+5) with an estimated cost of Rs 27.43 crore at Sub Divisional Hospital, Gunupur in Rayagada district.
Similarly, Administrative Approval has been granted for construction of a 150 seated House Surgeon Hostel for gents and 100 seated House Surgeon Hostel for ladies at MKCG Medical College and Hospital at Berhampur. While Rs 25.48 crore has been granted for the gents hostel, Rs 9.84 crore granted for the ladies hostel.
The Department has set certain conditions while approving the projects. As per the orders, the projects are to be completed within the stipulated period to avoid cost and time overrun. The concerned authorities will have to follow all codal procedures and statutory instructions of the government, it said.
The Director of Medical Education and Training (DMET) has been asked to ensure that the consultancy service includes preparation of DPR, architectural design and periodic supervision and preparation of detailed estimates prior to inviting tender for the work.
Technical sanction of the competent authority should be ensured before the award of the work and guidelines relating to the implementation of GST issued by the Finance Department from time to time to be followed, it said.
Meanwhile, the department has approved creation of 138 posts including the Vice-Chancellor and Registrar in Odisha University of Health Sciences (OUHS), which started functioning in March this year in a temporary accommodation here.
The State has 11 government and private medical colleges while another three government medical colleges are coming up in the next couple of years. Besides, it has around 200 nursing, AYUSH and pharmacy institutions. All are now governed by the University.
