Bhubaneswar: There are higher numbers of female voters than male in four Lok Sabha constituencies in Odisha; those will go for polling on the first phase in the state on May 13, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nikunja Bihari Dhal said here today.
Berhampur, Koraput, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur Lok Sabha segments and 28 assembly constituencies coming under the LS seats will go for polling on May 13, for which nomination process began today, he said.
A total of 62,84,649 voters are there in these four LS constituencies, of which 31,87,771 are female voters, 30,96,243 are male and 635 are belong to transgender, Shri Dhal said.
Informing about the ratio of female voters in every 1000 male voters, the ACS Shri Dhal said the ratio is 1039 in Nabarangpur LS segment, 999 in Kalahandi, 1095 in Koraput and 996 in Berhampur LS constituency.
Out of the total voters in the four constituencies, 2.78 percent voters belong to the 18-19 age group, while 23.34 percent are of the 20-19 age group, he said.
The CEO said that different enforcement agencies have seized cash, liquor, drugs and other items worth Rs 118. 65crore in the state during the pre-election period from March 1 to till date.
The enforcement agencies have seized Rs 2.07 crore cash, liquor worth Rs 18.19 crore, drugs value of Rs 43.69 crore, precious metals worth Rs 7.17 crore and freebies /other items worth Rs 47.44 crore from Odisha, he stated.
While Police department has seized items worth Rs 61.6 crore, state excise department seized illegal narcotic substances worth Rs 30 crore, state GST department seized items worth Rs 17 crore, the department of revenue and intelligence of GoI seized items worth Rs 6.4 crore, transport department (Rs 1.19 crore), income tax (Rs 73 lakh), and forest department (95 lakh).
A total of 7289 polling booths and 14 auxiliary polling stations have been set up in the four LS seats and 75 companies of central paramilitary forces have been deployed in the state for the ensuing election. More number of CAPF personnel will also be deployed in coming days, he added.
Shri Dhal said that they have received over 3873 complaints about violations of the Model Code of Conduct through the C-Vigil application in the entire Odisha, of which 3854 have been disposed off including 1850 complaints that were addressed within 100 minutes of registration.
The Election Commission has received 587 complaints through the C-Vigil application in the above-mentioned four LS segments, of which 582 have been resolved, the chief electoral officer of Odisha informed.
He said that recognised political parties have been asked to follow the guidelines issued for heatwave conditions and avoid big rallies and large gathering public meetings during day time.
