MCL Adopts 50 Orphan Girls

Sambalpur: In a landmark initiative on International Women’s Day, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has adopted 50 orphan girl children in collaboration with the Aswasana Trust, an initiative by the Jharsuguda district administration.

This noble step aims to secure the future of orphaned girls by providing them with financial aid for education, nutrition and overall well-being, officials said.

The Aswasana Trust of Jharsuguda District Administration is dedicated to supporting orphan girls from vulnerable backgrounds, ensuring they receive proper education and care.

Under this initiative, financial assistance is structured in a tiered manner, offering monthly stipends of Rs 1000, Rs 2000 and Rs 4000, depending on the age group. MCL’s contribution of Rs 10 lakh to the Trust will directly benefit these 50 girls, empowering them to pursue a brighter future, the officials said.

The adoption event was held in the presence of Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, local MLA Tankadhar Tripathy, Collector Aboli Sunil Naravane, and Awadh Kishor Pandey, General Manager, IB Valley Area, MCL during the Subhadra Shakti Yojna program held in Jharsuguda, they said.

MCL’s contribution highlights its strong commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its dedication to fostering positive change in society.
