Mamata Merges With PMMVY

Bhubaneswar: The State Cabinet today decided to merge the State-sponsored Mamata scheme with the Central scheme—Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).

The State Cabinet led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has decided to jointly implement two schemes with effect from April 1, 2025. The scheme will be named as MAMATA-PMMVY, Majhi told media persons.

Earlier, beneficiaries used to get Rs10,000 for the birth of a girl child under Mamata Yojana. Now, under Mamata-PMMVY, they will get Rs 12,000, he said.

Beneficiaries will receive Rs10,000 for the birth of a boy child under MAMATA-PMMVY. Women from PVTG community will be given Rs12,000 for the birth of a girl child and Rs10,000 for the birth of a boy for all live births, the CM stated.

Similarly, Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) and Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs), who were earlier getting Rs 200 and Rs100 respectively as incentive amount, will now get Rs 250 and Rs150 under MAMATA-PMMVY, he stated.

The eligibility criteria of the Government of India’s PMMVY scheme will also be applicable to the MAMATA-PMMVY scheme.

In the next five years the expenditure on MAMATA-PMMVY would be about Rs 2,670 crores, Majhi informed.

The Cabinet, which has approved a total of six proposals, had decided to construct Khairibandhan Barrage Project including afflux bund at Anlabeni in Jashipur block Mayurbhanj District.

The objective of the present proposal is to construct a barrage across river Khairibhandan near village Analabeni in Jashipur Block to provide assured kharif irrigation in the chronically drought prone area, inhabited mostly by backward, weaker and tribal population, he said.

The Cabinet today approved the tender for the above work for an execution cost amounting to Rs97.67 crore. The work is planned to be completed in 30 months.

The project will provide assured kharif irrigation to 6950 hectares in 47 villages of Jashipur, Raruan & Sukruli block of Mayurbhanj District through underground pipeline (UGPL) system.

The project will provide drinking water facility to more than 35,000 populations of Mayurbhanj district and will also supplement the domestic livestock / aquaculture demand. The project on completion will replenish the ground water level and will ensure sustainable food production along with improvement of the socio-economic conditions of the local people, he said.

The State Cabinet have also approved the proposal of Revenue and Disaster Management Department for sanction of lease of Government land measuring Ac 40.197 in Mouza- Suleikhamar and Bramhangaon of Keonjhar District in favour of Dharanidhar University, Keonjhar on free of all charges basis for establishment of its north & south campus, the CM said.

The government has also waived out nonrecurring Government dues amounting to Rs 140.71 crore and recurring Government dues amounting to Rs 50.26 lakh.

Exemption of the above financial dues will reduce the financial burden on the Dharanidhar University, which is an elite public educational institution of the State.

Besides, the Cabinet has approved the proposals for amendments of Combined Recruitment Examination of different posts having Physical Measurement and Physical Efficiency Test Rules, 2022, and the Odisha Government ITIs Trainers’ Service (Methods of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2024 in short OGITS Rules, 2024.
