Kalikesh Asks PMGSY Progress

Bhubaneswar: Senior BJD Lawmaker Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo asked Minister for Rural Development about the physical and financial progress of projects sanctioned under PMGSY in Odisha for 2023-24.

Kalikesh has asked this question through an unstarred question in the State Legislative Assembly today.

In his written reply, Rural Development Minister Rabi Narayan Naik said there was a provision of Rs 2000 crore in the budget of 2023-24 for PMGSY work. Funds are released to the implementing agency (OSRRA) in a phased manner depending on funds released by the Government of India.

Accordingly, an amount of Rs.1922.37 crore has been released including the State share during the financial year 2023-24.

The expenditure has been made for an amount of Rs 1558.52  crore in the year 2023-24 by constructing 2554.91 km of road and 56 bridges which connect 13 habitations connected through this scheme, Shri Naik said.

Balance ongoing 404 roads (1271.07 km) and 80 bridges are targeted to be completed by March 2025, he informed.

As per the written statement of the Minister, the highest length of 255.17 km roads were constructed in Mayurbhanj district during the year 2023-24, followed by Kalahandi district where 197.25 km roads were constructed. It was followed by Jajpur (177.93 km), Ganjam (170.48), Cuttack (160.97), Balasore (153.25), Sambalpur (152.02), Nabarangpur (133.41), and Bolangir (119.89).

 Out of 56 bridges constructed in the financial year, 11 bridges were constructed in Mayurbhanj district while seven bridge projects were completed in Bolangir and Koraput districts each.
