UCCI Chief Urges For MSME Care

Bhubaneswar: Presenting the issues faced by MSME units to address environment concerns while balancing for a profitable business, UCCI President and Managing Director of SNM Group Dr.Prabodh Mohanty has appealed to the State Government to address the issues by giving proper incentives.

Dr.Mohanty made this appeal before the government while addressing at the 4th Climate Change Conference organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Odisha Branch here on 25 November.

Minister Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia graced the occasion as Chief Guest, listened attentively to the points raised by UCCI President Dr.Mohanty.

Dr.Mohanty, who is Managing Director of SNM Group has been actively supporting the cause of wildlife protection and promotion in the State, for which Minister Shri Singh Khuntia has lot of praise for the Conglomerate, spearheading Green Initiatives.

Dr. Mohanty, a leading Industrialist and as the president of Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industries (UCCI), whose 90 percent members are MSMEs, urged upon the Government to have a close look at the issues of MSME Sector.

As the MSMEs are facing hardship while taking care of the environment and climate change guidelines, these units are needed to be supported, urged UCCI Chief, Dr.Mohanty.

Accordingly, the Government should come forward to provide them incentive or other assistance through proper policy decisions and also give them a hand holding support to meet the goal, UCCI Chief Dr.Mohanty said.

Stating that the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is promoting Solar Power, Dr.Mohanty said many of the miners in Odisha are now using solar power in their mining area.

He appealed to the government to allow the miners from the State to do afforestation plantation in the degraded forest land so that the forest coverage can be further strengthened and help in addressing climate change.

It is a matter of assurance that 5 crore 20 lakh trees have been planted in the country under the ‘Ek Pad, Maa Ke Naam’ campaign in the State.

If more and more forests can be created, environmental pollution can be prevented, urged Dr.Mohanty.

Land reclamation is a significant challenge at present. Rapid urbanisation, expansion of industrialization and increase in mining are making land reclamation difficult, pointed out Dr.Mohanty.
