Jabil AI Data Center Open

Pune: Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, has highlighted the critical role of Artificial Intelligence infrastructure in India’s industrial future, declaring that AI data centers have emerged as a massive growth engine globally. Speaking at the inauguration of a state-of-the-art Advanced Manufacturing Facility for Jabil Inc. at Ranjangaon, Pune, on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, the Minister outlined a strategic roadmap to establish India as a core manufacturing hub for the electronic components that power these data networks. The high-tech facility, inaugurated alongside Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, represents a major expansion of India’s export-centric data ecosystem.

During his address, Minister Shri Vaishnaw lauded the long-term vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, noting that transforming electronics manufacturing into a pillar of the national economy has yielded extraordinary results. He remarked that while electronics manufacturing and exports from India were considered unthinkable just a few years ago, a clear and targeted vision has transformed India into a highly trusted global manufacturing partner. To highlight this success, the Minister shared a vital economic milestone, noting that in 2025, electronics officially surged forward to become the third-largest export category among all goods shipped from India.

The newly integrated facility in Pune boasts an extensive manufacturing footprint capable of addressing complex technological demands for both domestic markets and international exports. Its manufacturing capabilities are diverse, spanning hardware and gears tailored for AI-enabled data centers, cutting-edge 5G technology, high-end telecommunications networking gears, and industrial power system electronics alongside high-demand consumer electronics. The project is backed by active policy cooperation between the central and state governments, scaling localized high-tech employment up to 11,000 personnel and aiming to integrate regional Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises directly into the global technology supply chain.

Looking ahead, Minister Shri Vaishnaw challenged industry leaders, investors, and state officials to work collaboratively towards an ambitious new goal of elevating electronics into the nation’s second-largest export category. Achieving this target will rely heavily on an unyielding focus on process quality and domestic self-reliance. To support this vision, the Union Minister promised full, sustained government investment towards extensive talent development, specialized technical skill creation, and building manufacturing ecosystems capable of producing high-precision mechanical parts locally. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of establishing strategic partnerships with global equipment innovators to deeply root these critical supply chains within Indian borders.
