New Delhi: Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA) today won Silver award under the category “Excellence Award for Women in Green Energy and Energy Efficiency” at the 6th Green Urja and Energy Efficiency Awards, organised by Indian Chamber of Commerce in New Delhi.
The award was presented by Shri Anil Razdan, Former Secretary (Power) along with other dignitaries and received on behalf of IREDA by Mrs. Mala Ghosh Choudhury, General Manager (HR); Ms. Durre Shahwar, General Manager (HR); and Mrs. Punnu Grover, Chief Compliance Officer, along with other women officers.
In fact under the dynamic leadership of Shri Pradip Kumar Das, Chairman and Managing Director, IREDA has transformed into a leading example of gender inclusivity within the Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs). His strategy focuses on moving beyond simple representation to create a structural environment where women are central to India’s green energy transition.
CMD IREDA, Shri Das has championed a workplace culture where women are not just participants but decision-makers. By achieving a 23% female workforce, he has positioned IREDA significantly ahead of many industry peers. His focus lies in the belief that a future-ready energy ecosystem requires the diverse perspectives and problem-solving skills that women bring to the technical and financial aspects of renewable energy.
A key element of his approach is providing women professionals with a platform for high-level recognition and responsibility. This is evidenced by the delegation of senior female officials, such as General Managers and the Chief Compliance Officer, to represent the organization at national forums like the Green Urja and Energy Efficiency Awards. By highlighting these leaders, he reinforces a meritocratic system that encourages professional growth and long-term career development for women.
He has aligned IREDA’s internal human resource policies with the broader national mission for clean energy. Shri Das views women’s empowerment as a strategic asset rather than a corporate formality. Under his guidance, the agency focuses on building a supportive ecosystem that allows women to contribute meaningfully to complex projects, ensuring that the “Green Energy” movement in India is inclusive and socially progressive.
