New Delhi: India is making massive strides in its clean energy transition, as highlighted in a recent progress review by Shri Santosh Sarangi, Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
The nation’s renewable energy journey has achieved remarkable velocity, with total renewable energy capacity now scaling past 282 GW.
The standout driver of this growth is solar power, which has witnessed an extraordinary 56-fold increase, jumping from a mere 2.8 GW in 2014 to more than 157 GW in 2026. This exponential growth underscores a shifting energy landscape focused on sustainability and self-reliance.
As part of this nationwide momentum, individual states are playing an increasingly crucial role in expanding green infrastructure. Odisha, a state traditionally known for its heavy industries and mineral wealth, is progressively integrating into the national clean energy matrix.
Under the current expansion roadmap, the state is experiencing a boost in grid infrastructure and clean energy integration. MNRE initiatives are actively incorporating states like Odisha into the wind and solar energy brackets, particularly through specialized round-the-clock renewable energy bids and improved evacuation networks.
These structural upgrades ensure that the rising green power generated across the country can be securely absorbed and distributed, paving the way for a more resilient and sustainable local power grid.
