Bhubaneswar: To improve and enhance working facilities nearer to worksites, the State Government has extended the Irrigation Building & Development Program (IBDP) for a period of another four years, from 2023-24 to 2026-27.
Department of Water Resources (DoWR) has issued a resolution in this regard on Thursday.
The State Government has decided to extend the tenure of the scheme for a further period of four years with an outlay of Rs 49.90 crores, which will be met from State’s own resources.
As per the resolution, the ongoing scheme has been extended to meet the requirement by way of constructing new buildings, completion of ongoing building works under IBDP phase II along with refurbishing the existing buildings of the department.
IBDP envisages construction and refurbishing of new and existing buildings respectively of the Department of Water Resources to meet the space requirements after restructuring of cadre.
Repair and maintenance work of residential and nonresidential buildings which could not be taken up due to paucity of normal maintenance funds on need basis, would be taken up under the program.
The Water Resources Department has proposed to construct, extend, renovate & refurbish 94 non -residential and residential buildings under the scheme during the four years.
As per the plan, the Government has proposed to utilize Rs 5 crore during the current financial year while Rs 21.45 will be spent in 2024-25 and Rs 13.45 crore in 2025-26. Similarly, the Department has earmarked Rs 10 crore for the financial year 2026-27.
