Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government has announced a half-day holiday for all Government offices and schools in Bhubaneswar on Thursday for the first visit of President of India Droupadi Murmu.
The Revenue and Disaster Management Department issued an order in this regard.
“The Government of Odisha has been pleased to declare that all Government offices, school & colleges (Government & privates) coming under the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Bhubaneswar will remain closed after 1 PM on Thursday on occasion of visit of President of India to Odisha,” read the order issued by Revenue Joint Secretary Madhusmita Sahoo.
Notably, BJD Supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was the first non-NDA party leader who extended his support for NDA’s Presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu. The Chief Minister has also appealed to all MLAs of Odisha Legislative Assembly to support her.
He also revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had discussed Shrimati Murmu’s candidature with him before nominating her.
