Bhubaneswar: Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati has issued a powerful call to action, urging every individual and institution to embrace their responsibility in cultivating a clean and green future for generations to come. This significant appeal was made during the Van Mahotsav celebrations, where the Governor personally led a tree plantation drive within the Raj Bhavan premises.
The initiative, aptly named “Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam” (A Tree in Mother’s Name), saw the Governor launch the tree plantation campaign at “Shyamananda Park” in Raj Bhavan. He was joined by the state’s Hon’ble First Lady, Smt. Jayashree Kambhampati, who also actively participated in planting trees, symbolizing a united front for environmental stewardship.
The core message of the program revolved around the vital necessity of tree plantation to effectively combat the escalating challenges of climate change and to safeguard the planet’s precious biodiversity. This commitment to environmental protection and the promotion of sustainable living is not new to Raj Bhavan. It has consistently demonstrated its dedication through various tangible steps.
To significantly reduce its carbon footprint and reliance on conventional energy sources, the Raj Bhavan has proactively installed solar power systems. Furthermore, it has embraced electric vehicles, showcasing a forward-thinking approach to sustainable mobility.
These efforts have not only contributed to a greener environment but have also positioned Raj Bhavan as a leading model of green governance within the state.
Principal Secretary to the Governor N.B.S. Rajput, along with other officers and staff of Raj Bhavan, also participated in the tree planting program, further solidifying the collective commitment to this crucial green initiative.
