Bhubaneswar: Here is a piece of news for the Odisha people to feel proud. Renowned Odia artist Mona Biswarupa Mohanty has got UAE’s coveted Golden Visa for a period of 10 years.
Golden Visa is the long-term residence visa of the UAE. The long-term cultural visa is granted to talented people in the fields of arts, creative industries, literature and culture, heritage history and cognitive studies.
Ms.Mohanty, a native of Mayurbhanj district, has become the first Odia artist to receive the UAE’s Golden Visa, sources said.
She has been living in Dubai since 2007 and engaged in the academics and design industry for the past eight years. She is a self-employed art practitioner registered with the Dubai Economic Department.
Ms.Mohanty has a diploma in fine arts from the School of Art and Crafts, Baripada. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi, and did Masters Research Study in Fashion and Textile Design, Instituto Europeo di Design at Milan in Italy.
“A long-term residency gives me an opportunity for a more meaningful cultural exchange and possibilities of working on collaborative projects with other artists,” Ms Mohanty said in a statement.
“I see this as an opportunity to represent my country and culture and mingle with other cultures to contribute to the ever-growing global cultural heritage,” she added
