Bhubaneswar: In a bid to make Odisha as a leading State in the field of international flight operations, the Cabinet on Tuesday has approved a proposal to commence direct flight operation to Dubai, Singapore and Bangkok.
The State Government will bear the expenditure towards the direct flight operation from Bhubaneswar to Dubai, Singapore and Bangkok In lieu, the revenue generated through ticketing will be retained by the State Government, Chief Secretary SC Mohapatra said.
He said Indigo will start 186-seater direct flight operations from Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar to Dubai, Singapore and Bangkok.
A tender was floated for the selection of a suitable Airline operator for this and Indigo has applied for its operation through these routes. The connection to Dubai will open up the entire western side while Singapore and Bangkok will open up the entire eastern side, said Mr.Mahapatra.
This will make travel for the people of Odisha more friendly and also economical. It will also help Prabasi Odia to come to their state more easily, he said.
