Bhubaneswar: The strategic partnership between the Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency and the Energy Department for the financial year 2026 to 2027 acts as a major catalyst for the state’s broader sustainability roadmap.
Under the leadership of Additional Chief Secretary, Energy, E&IT, Shri Vishal Kumar Dev, Odisha is actively expanding its footprint beyond traditional power generation to build a robust, diversified clean energy ecosystem.
The state has set an ambitious target to achieve eleven gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030, underpinned by massive investments exceeding two lakh crore rupees in green infrastructure.
This vision relies on fast-tracking diverse resource segments, including large-scale solar installations, wind power generation, battery energy storage systems, and pumped storage projects. Through the specialized single-window clearance mechanism managed by the Energy Department, bureaucratic hurdles for green investments have been substantially reduced, inviting major public and private sector participation.
Collaborations with national agencies like the Solar Energy Corporation of India and state entities such as GRIDCO and OHPC are further strengthening the transition. These cooperative efforts are laying the groundwork for emerging sustainable sectors like green hydrogen and green ammonia production, positioning Odisha as a leading clean energy powerhouse in eastern India.
