Bhubaneswar: To increase the usage of renewable energy (RE), Principal Secretary Finance & Energy, Vishal Dev directed concerned officials to promote innovative RE projects in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
Shri Dev today convened an important meeting with senior Energy Department officials to discuss the scope for setting up photovoltaic solar projects in the State.
He suggested undertaking pilot study on new innovative solar applications in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
Principal Secretary Shri Dev has advised assessing the potential within the upcoming metro rail project from Cuttack to Bhubaneswar. Additionally, universities may task for identifying feasible sites for project implementation, he said.
Worth mentioning that the Odisha Government has implemented the RE Policy to enhance the generation and use of renewable energy in the State.
According to sources, the Odisha Renewable Energy development Agency (OREDA) has planned to adopt the RESCO model for the installation of the rooftop solar systems over the Government departments/buildings in the twin city.
As part of the Government of India’s target to achieve a cumulative capacity of 100 GW solar photovoltaic installation by the year December 2026.
OREDA recently invited bids for the selection of SPG towards solarization of 43 numbers of State Government buildings /establishments under Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) area under ‘Bhubaneswar RE City Program’.
