New Delhi: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi met with Union Jal Shakti Minister Shri C. R. Patil in New Delhi to discuss the long-standing Mahanadi water dispute.
During the meeting, Shri Majhi emphasized the need for a “fair and just resolution” to the issue, which has been a point of contention between Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
The meeting comes as both states have shown a willingness to resolve the dispute amicably, with a joint negotiation committee being proposed to facilitate dialogue. The tribunal overseeing the matter has granted an extension for a peaceful resolution.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Majhi also presented Minister Shri Patil with the “Vision Odisha 2036 | 2047” document. This blueprint outlines the state’s long-term development strategy, with ambitious goals of becoming a USD 1.5 trillion economy by 2047, among other key objectives.
The document, which was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is a roadmap for the state’s transformation and is built on six pillars including rural empowerment, people-first development, and technology leadership.
