Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed his strong support and congratulations to the Ministry of Defence on the inauguration of the BrahMos missile manufacturing facility in Lucknow.
Chief Minister in his X post emphasized that this significant milestone will substantially enhance India’s defence capabilities and reinforce the nation’s progress towards self-reliance in defense production.
Shri Majhi credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership for propelling India towards “Atmanirbhar Bharat” (self-reliant India) in the defense sector and beyond.
The facility it’s self, is a very important part of the Uttar Pradesh defence industrial corridor. The facility will produce the BrahMos missile, which is a joint venture between India and Russia. The facility will also produce the next generation of BrahMos missiles.
This facility is a 300 crore rupee project. The facility is expected to produce between 80-100 missiles per year, and then increase production to 100-150 next generation missiles per year.
This facility is located on 80 hectares of land. The facility will also contain a Titanium and Super Alloys Materials Plant, for the production of materials used in aerospace grade products. Also the Defence Testing Infrastructure System (DTIS) will be located there.
The BrahMos missile is a supersonic cruise missile, that can be launched from land, sea, and air. The BrahMos missile has a “fire and forget” guidance system. The next generation of the BrahMos missile will be lighter, and allow for fighter jets to carry more of them.
