Bhubaneswar: To remove anomalies or doubt over reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities in jobs and other services, the SSEPD Department has issued a clarification in this regard today.
The Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) Department said clause 32 and 34 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, states that the Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) selected without relaxed standard, along with other candidates in corresponding vertical category.
The reservation should not be adjusted against the vacancies reserved for them and that the vacancies reserved for them will be filled up separately from amongst the eligible PwBD candidates, the Department said in a notification.
The PwBD, who are lower in merit than the last candidate in corresponding vertical category in the merit list, should be provided the reservation benefit, if otherwise found suitable for admission/ appointment, it said.
The Department has shared this order to all other departments for its immediate implementation.
The order was issued to clear the doubt among the departments while giving reservation for the PwBD in employment. Now, only the low merit PwBD candidates can be provided with the reservation for PwDs while those secured good score or merit in the selection process can be employed like other general candidates, official sources said.
Recently, SSPED Minister Nityanand Gond had asked all district Collectors to launch a special drive to provide land, houses to all homeless PwDs.
Gond has also asked the Collectors to identify homeless disabled families and include them in various government welfare schemes through a special campaign within a time frame on priority basis.
