‘Changemaker’ Plume on Y B Khurania Cap

Bhubaneswar: Tough Cop Yogesh Bahadur Khurania has added another plume to his fledging cap. Shri Khurania been recognized as the ‘CHANGEMAKER’ among all the Mandarins and Top Cops in the country for being a change agent and contributing to the country’s development.

Sh Khurania born in March, 1966 in Kaithal, Haryana. He belongs to the 1990 batch of the IPS and is presently serving as the Director General of Police, Odisha. He has been chosen as a ‘Changemaker-2024’ by a leading online platform, Bureaucrats India, a national organization covering Indian Bureaucracy.

An IPS officer who is an astute professional and one of the most efficient bureaucrats, he is known for his honesty and integrity. Shri Khurania has many notable achievements to his credit.

In February 2000, he arrested Dara Singh, who was accused of the murder of the Australia-born missionary Graham Stuart Staines and his two young sons. Further, while posted as IG Operations, he successfully handled the Left Wing Extremist (LWE) issues when Odisha was facing a grave threat to internal security. He motivated the force and helped them fight the ultras. The Special Operation Group (SOG) and Special Intelligence Wing (SIW0 took shape under his able leadership.

He also served as Police Commissioner of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and as Director of State Vigilance before joining the BSF in 2018 on deputation.

During his tenure in the BSF, he served as IG Frontier HQ, South Bengal, IG (Personnel) at Force Headquarters, Additional DG BSF Eastern Command Kolkata, and Special DG Operations at Force Headquarters, New Delhi.

During his stint with the BSF, he handled the difficult and ticklish issues on the Bangladesh and Pakistan borders with great aplomb. His handling of the Amarnath Yatra and the LoC earned appreciation from one and all.

Shri Khurania has received many decorations during his service, such as the Governor’s Medal, the Police Medal for Meritorious Service, the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, the Ati Utkrisht Seva Medal, and the Police Antrik Suraksha Seva Padak.

During his present tenure as the Head Of Police Force (HoPF) Odisha, he has already started making positive impact due to his charismatic leadership. He has organised the DG&IG Conference, Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, Utkarsha Odisha, and other mega events smoothly, earning laurels for the Odisha Police.

The entire Odisha Bureaucracy and State Police Organization was elated and congratulated him for this richly deserved recognition.
