Bhubaneswar: The state unit of the BJP on Monday held its Executive Body meeting through virtual mode and approved various political resolutions on political and social issues related to Odisha.
BJP approved the draft proposals on 10 important political and social issues in its executive body meeting held at the party State headquarters on Monday.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of State BJP President Sameer Mohanty while senior leaders including State-in-charge D Purandeswari, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan & Pratap Sarangi and party national vice president Baijayant Panda along with a host of party MPs and MLAs have attended the meeting.
The party has prepared the roadmap for the next three months. It has also prepared a strategy to tackle the BJD-led State Government over its failure in Covid management and other public issues.
Addressing the meeting, Union Minister Mr.Pradhan urged all his colleagues to work as a soldier to bring real change in the lives of four and half crore people of Odisha. The BJP has emerged as the strongest influential public movement in the country and in Odisha too, people have come in support of the party after Prime Minister Modi took over, he said.
After the meeting, State vice president Bhrigu Buxipatra said that the Odisha government has miserably failed to manage Covid-19 pandemic in the State.
“The government has failed in ‘test, track and treat’ to combat Covid 19. Covid testing has not been increased in the State. Contact tracing has been hit severely due to less testing,” he said. The Government has also suppressed the actual number of fatalities due to the Covid, he alleged.
Mr.Buxipatra said the Centre has allocated funds and the State had utilised the same in opening Temporary Medical Centres (TMCs) during the first wave of Covid. However, no such centre has opened again during the second wave and the Government has yet to disclose the money spent for this purpose, he alleged.
Apart from Covid mismanagement, houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana are being allotted on party (political) considerations while the real beneficiaries are deprived of the Central scheme, the BJP leader further alleged.
To provide livelihood support to the poor people during this pandemic, the Centre is allocating thousands of crores of rupees under MGNREGA. But, the State Government is using machines in the works which reduced the rural jobs, he further alleged.
The Government has shown golden dreams to the migrant labourers, who suffered a lot due the pandemic. But, nothing has been done for them.
The party unanimously passed a motion of thanks for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over free vaccination, free rations to poor and assistance to farmers.
Reacting on this, BJD spokesperson Elina Das said the BJP leaders are making such false statements to encourage their party workers, who are in distress following BJP’s defeat in West Bengal.
Odisha has successfully managed Covid in comparison to BJP ruled States like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh, she said, adding, the State Government was also awarded by Centre for its work in MGNREGA and rural housing schemes.
Making a mockery of the BJP leaders, the BJD spokesperson said the saffron leaders should be appointed as advisors to the Central Government on Covid-19 management.
