Bhubaneswar: The Governing Biju Janata Dal(BJD) today announced its candidates for another six Lok Sabha seats.
Earlier in the day, the party had named its fighters for nine MP and 72 MLA seats ofthe State.
Announcing the candidates, BJD President and ChiefMinister Naveen Patnaik said retired IPS officer Arup Patnaik will contest fromPuri LS segment against BJP nominee Sambit Patra.
Dr.Patra lost the poll in 2019with a very low margin.
The party has nominated Ex-Corporate Honcho Santrupt Mishra from Cuttack MP segment.
Shri Misra was very recently joined in the BJD and holding the national spokesperson post in the party.
Though BJP has not announced itscandidate for Cuttack MP segment, it was speculated that Bhatruhari Mahtab maybe the candidate, if he joins the BJP.
Abinash Samal has been nominated to fight for DhenkanalMP seat while three sitting MPs have been renominated from their respectiveseats.
They are Rajashree Mallick (Jagatsinghpur), Achutananda Samanta (Kandhamal)and Sarmistha Sethi (Jajpur).
The BJD has not yet announced its candidates for Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Bargarh, Berhampur, and Bolangir.
