Bhubaneswar: Noted Educationist and Chartered Accountant Bijaya Kumar Sahoo passed away at a private hospital in Hyderabad on Thursday following COVID infections. He was 58.
Initially he was treated at Ashwini Hospital in Cuttack after testing positive for Covid-19. Later he was airlifted to Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Hyderabad when his condition deteriorated.
Mr.Sahoo was under extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) treatment at KIMS Hyderabad for the past few days. He succumbed to the complications at 1:18 pm in the afternoon.
Arrangements are being made to bring his body to Bhubaneswar, sources said.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed deep grief over the demise of Sahoo. “Deeply saddened to know about the passing away of noted educationist and entrepreneur, Dr. Bijaya Kumar Sahoo. As Advisor of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan, he had a pioneering role in transforming Govt School education. My condolences to his family, friends & students,” the CM tweeted.
