Bhubaneswar: After suffering defeat in the recently concluded Assembly election, former Salepur MLA Prakash Chandra Behera resigned from Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Thursday.
He has resigned from the primary membership of BJD and sent his resignation to BJD President and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Shri Behera had unsuccessfully contested from Barabati-Cuttack constituency on a BJD ticket in 2024 Assembly elections.
Behera had been elected to Assembly from Salipur seta in Cuttack on Congress ticket in 2014 and then he resigned from the Congress party and joined BJP ahead of 2019 Assembly elections in the state. However, he failed to win the seat from BJP ticket in 2019.
Then, ahead of 2024 elections, the one-time MLA joined the BJD and again tasted electoral defeat. Now, he is planning to back a national political party.
