Arukha Filed Speaker Papers

Bhubaneswar, Senior BJD lawmaker and former Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha on Friday filed nomination papers for the post of Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly.

Arukha submitted his nomination papers before Assembly Secretary Dasharathi Satapathy here in the Assembly premises in presence of BJD Organisational Secretary Pranab Prakash Das, Ministers Niranjan Pujari, Ashok Panda and Samir Ranjan Dash, government chief whip Prasanta Muduli and many senior legislators of the Governing party.  

Mr.Arukha thanked the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for choosing him for the crucial post, which is lying vacant following the resignation of Surya Narayan Patro due to his health issues.  

“I will try my best to maintain the tradition and honourability of the House intact in the coming days,” he said.

For the purpose of the election, a meeting of the Assembly will be held on June 13, 2022 (Monday) at 10.30 AM in the Assembly Hall. All MLAs have been asked to attend the above meeting.

Recently, the Chief Minister has revamped the Council of Ministers. All 20 Ministers resigned from their respective posts last Saturday. Along with them, Patro had also resigned from the post of Speaker due to health issues.
