New Delhi: The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare has secured a major victory at the 29th National Awards for e-Governance (NAeG) 2026, with its flagship initiative, Agri Stack, winning the coveted Gold Award.
The announcement has brought immense pride to the Ministry and specifically to Dr. Pramod Kumar Mehrda, Additional Secretary Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, who is leading the implementation and scaling up of the digital agricultural infrastructure across the country.
The recognition comes as part of the 29th NAeG awards, which honors excellence in digital governance across seven distinct categories. Agri Stack was selected as a Gold Awardee for its transformative approach to leveraging technology in the agricultural sector. The award, which includes a trophy, a certificate, and an incentive of Rs 10 lakh to be utilized for project development or public welfare, will be formally presented during the 29th National Conference on e-Governance scheduled to take place in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
Agri Stack is designed to create a federated architecture for agricultural data, providing farmers with unique digital identities and linking them to land records, crop details, and customized advisory services. Under the leadership of Union Minister Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan, the program is currently being scaled up nationally to ensure seamless access to credit, high-quality inputs, and government welfare schemes, thereby reducing documentation friction and middleman dependency for millions of farmers.
The 2026 awards list features 10 Gold and 6 Silver awardees, alongside a special Jury Award presented to the Survey of India for its Real Time Precise Positioning Services. Other notable Gold winners alongside Agri Stack include the Ministry of Consumer Affairs’ e-jagriti platform, the Prayagraj Mela Authority’s Mahakumbh 2025 management system, and the Ministry of Health’s AI-enabled clinical decision support system in eSanjeevani.
The inclusion of grassroots achievements, such as Gold awards for Kadepur Gram Panchayat in Maharashtra and Bijoy Nagar Gram Panchayat in Tripura, highlights the central theme of this year’s awards: deepening and widening service delivery at the village level through comprehensive digitization.
For Dr. Mehrda and the Ministry of Agriculture, this Gold Award serves as a validation of their data-driven governance strategy aimed at achieving the broader vision of a technologically empowered, Viksit Bharat.
