Purushottampur, Ganjam: The sacred abode of Maa Tara Tarini, the presiding deity pitha of Southern Odisha, is witnessing a monumental transformation aimed at blending ancient spiritual grandeur with modern infrastructure.
Principal Secretary Works Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, accompanied by the Chief Construction Engineer Southern Circle, Superintending Engineer R&B Ganjam II, and Executive Officer cum Tahsildar Purushottampur, recently visited the hill shrine to evaluate ongoing infrastructure initiatives and deliberate on ambitious master plans designed to elevate the pilgrimage experience for millions of devotees.
This devotion to the holy shrine is part of a long-standing commitment. During his earlier tenure as the Revenue Divisional Commissioner of the Southern Division, Shri Singh laid the groundwork for safeguarding and glorifying this historic Tantra Peetha. As RDC, he spearheaded crucial administrative coordination, facilitated land clearances, and harmonized traditional temple rituals with modern civic management.
His vision ensured that the sacred hillock atop the Rushikulya River was transformed into a clean, accessible, and serene spiritual sanctuary, making the daunting uphill pilgrimage far smoother for elderly devotees and families through improved pathway planning, ropeway logistics, and enhanced security measures.
Now steering the state’s Works Department as Principal Secretary, Shri Singh brings the same spiritual resolve and administrative rigor back to the divine site. His latest review focused on accelerating critical civil engineering projects, expanding queue management complexes, widening approach roads, and integrating traditional Kalingan architectural aesthetics into newly proposed public amenities. Under his leadership, the Works Department is formulating comprehensive future proposals that respect the cultural sanctity of the pitha while installing world-class tourist facilities, lighting, and eco-friendly hilltop infrastructure.
By bridging his past expertise as RDC Southern Division with his current role as Principal Secretary Works, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh continues to play a pivotal role in honoring the cultural ethos of Southern Odisha.
