New York, USA – During New York Climate Week, Shri Santosh Sarangi, Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), co-chaired a special Round Table on India’s Energy Transition and Infrastructure Development alongside the Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG). The high-level gathering was jointly organized by the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) and ProsperETE.
The conclave brought together senior executives and leaders from major US and Canadian pension funds, private equity investors, and international development finance institutions to explore sustainable investment opportunities across India’s clean energy landscape.
Addressing the audience, the MNRE Secretary Shri Sarangi outlined India’s clear roadmap toward achieving 500 gigawatts of non-fossil fuel-based energy capacity by 2030.
He emphasized that this growth is underpinned by stable policy frameworks, active market creation, and strategic diversification of supply chains. Highlighting the scale of market potential, he invited global private equity firms and long-term patient capital to actively participate in India’s green growth initiatives.
Special attention was given to the nation’s key decentralized solar initiatives, including the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana for widespread rooftop solar adoption and the PM-KUSUM scheme for agricultural power.
MNRE Secretary Shri Sarangi pointed out that these flagship schemes extend clean energy access well beyond traditional utility-scale solar parks, supplying green electricity directly to residential homes and farming communities nationwide.
