Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government released over 833 crore rupees directly into the bank accounts of more than 41 lakh farmers under the CM Kisan scheme. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched the distribution process via Direct Benefit Transfer to provide immediate support to small and marginal farmers, with a strong focus on landless agricultural households and underdeveloped tribal communities.
The event was held in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture & Farmer’s Empowerment, Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo alongside Minister Revenue & Disaster Management, Shri Suresh Pujari.
Given the recent heavy rains and flooding in several districts, the state leadership prioritized releasing these funds ahead of the traditional Nuakhai festival. The advance assistance acts as a key recovery measure for flood-hit farming areas, ensuring agrarian families have enough resources to restart their operations without delay.
Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Shri Sachin Ramachandra Jadhav, the early release of funds is timed to bolster the crop production cycle in vulnerable regions. This money provides necessary capital for smallholders to buy essential inputs, clear damaged fields, and begin field prep work for the upcoming 2026-27 pre-Rabi crop season.
