Bhubaneswar: With a major push toward expanding the clean energy footprint of Odisha, the 18th Single Window Committee meeting convened under the Odisha Renewable Energy Policy 2022 yielded major project clearances. Chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Shri Vishal Dev, IAS, the high-level committee gave green lights to multiple investment proposals designed to boost green power capacity, grid resilience, and sustainable development across the state.
The Odisha Renewable Energy Policy 2022 serves as the core framework guiding the state toward achieving its ambitious target of 10 GW in renewable power generation by 2030. During the session, Shri Vishal Dev emphasized the state government’s commitment to facilitating rapid clearance, providing structural incentives, and streamlining inter-departmental clearances to ensure projects transition seamlessly from proposal to execution.
The Additional Chief Secretary noted that accelerating clean energy initiatives is critical not only for meeting net-zero obligations and decarbonization mandates but also for ensuring long-term industrial energy security across Odisha.
A key focus of the meeting was inter-agency alignment to tackle grid synchronization, evacuation infrastructure, and power purchase mechanisms. Senior officials and executive leadership from major state utility bodies attended the deliberations, including representatives from GRIDCO (the designated nodal agency for renewable energy procurement), Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL), Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC), State Distribution Companies (DISCOMs), and the Energy Department.
Discussions focused on ensuring that new renewable capacity—spanning solar, wind, and hybrid projects—is integrated efficiently without causing grid imbalance. ACS Shri Vishal Dev instructed participating agencies to establish tight timelines for transmission tie-ups, land access facilitation, and regulatory compliance.
The clearances granted in the 18th Single Window Committee meeting build upon billions of rupees in cumulative investments already approved under OREP 2022. By maintaining an active single-window clearance mechanism, Odisha continues to attract private and public sector clean energy developers while creating local employment and lowering the carbon intensity of the state economy.
