Bhubaneswar : Director General, Eastern Zone, Shri T.V.K. Reddy, today visited the Regional Offices of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) and Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Bhubaneswar, and reviewed their activities, achievements and ongoing initiatives. He interacted with officers and staff and took stock of the outreach programmes, media-related activities and future action plans of the two organisations.
Shri T.V.K. Reddy appreciated the work being undertaken by PIB and CBC, Bhubaneswar, and expressed satisfaction over their performance. He particularly commended the effective management of press tours and comprehensive coverage of various events undertaken by the offices. Underscoring the importance of field visits, he observed that “visiting different locations is a good practice”, as it enables officials to gain first-hand understanding of activities and developments at the local level and facilitates direct interaction with officers and stakeholders.
Shri Reddy also emphasised the importance of direct and interpersonal communication in taking Government initiatives to the grassroots. He highlighted the effectiveness of CBC’s field-level communication and outreach mechanisms in creating awareness about flagship schemes and programmes, particularly among communities at the grassroots level. He stressed that direct engagement with people can help bridge the communication gap, foster greater awareness and strengthen the impact of public outreach initiatives.
Shri Akhil Kumar Mishra, Additional Director General, PIB & CBC, Bhubaneswar, in his address, highlighted the vital role of PIB and CBC in disseminating information on Government policies, flagship schemes, programmes and achievements and in strengthening communication with the media as well as the public. He emphasized the need for close coordination and greater synergy between the two organizations to further enhance the reach, effectiveness and impact of Government communication and outreach initiatives.
Shri Abhishek Mishra, Deputy Director, Regional News Unit (RNU), Doordarshan Kendra, Bhubaneswar, also participated in the programme and briefed about various activities and initiatives of RNU, Bhubaneswar.
Shri Pradeep Kumar Choudhury, Assistant Director, CBC, Bhubaneswar, delivered the welcome address. Shri Swadhin Shakti Prasad, Media & Communication Officer, PIB, Bhubaneswar, briefed about the major activities, initiatives and achievements of PIB, while Shri Baldev Singh, Administrative Officer, CBC apprised the gathering of the key achievements and various outreach and awareness initiatives undertaken by CBC.
The programme concluded with a cultural presentation by the artistes of CBC, Bhubaneswar. Officers and Staffs of PIB, CBC, Doordarshan and All India Radio were present on the occasion.
