Cuttack: Senior Indian Police Service officer Shri Vinayatosh Mishra has officially taken over additional charge as the Director General of Police and Head of the Police Force for the state of Odisha.
A commendable and well-respected officer known for his stellar reputation, honesty, and administrative capability, he succeeds outgoing DGP Shri Y.B. Khurania at the state police headquarters in Cuttack.
His appointment ensures seamless leadership and continuity across law enforcement operations in the state, bringing immense confidence to the public and the police department alike.
An accomplished academic and professional, Shri Vinayatosh Mishra belongs to the prestigious 1993 batch of the Indian Police Service (IPS) of the Odisha cadre.
Prior to taking over as the interim DGP, he served with distinction as the Director General of Police for the CID and Crime Branch of Odisha.
Before clearing the competitive UPSC Civil Services Examination and entering the police service, he completed a robust educational foundation, earning a Bachelor of Science in Engineering along with a Master’s Diploma in Personnel Management.
Throughout his nearly three decades of dedicated service, Shri Mishra has built an exemplary career centered on investigative excellence, professionalism, and community security.
He has spearheaded major initiatives in modernizing law enforcement, cracking down on cybercrimes, handling complex economic offenses, and strengthening forensic science and technology-driven policing.
Upon assuming his new role, he emphasized a strong commitment towards women safety, building a drug-free Odisha, combating cyber threats, and ensuring swift police assistance to citizens affected by seasonal challenges like floods.
