Bhubaneswar: To cater to the heavy seasonal rush and growing passenger traffic between Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, East Coast Railway has announced a One Way Special train connecting Sambalpur with Charlapalli. The initiative aims to alleviate passenger congestion during the mid-August travel period around the Independence Day weekend, offering a vital travel option for commuters across these regional corridors.
Train Number 08309, the Sambalpur to Charlapalli One Way Special, is scheduled to depart from Sambalpur Junction at 11:45 hrs on Friday, August 14, 2026. After traversing key transit hubs across western and southern Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, the train will reach its destination at Charlapalli at 11:30 hrs on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
The route selected for this service covers prominent commercial, cultural, and industrial hubs. En route, the special train will make scheduled halts at Bargarh Road, Balangir, Titlagarh, Kesinga, Muniguda, Rayagada, Parvathipuram Town, Bobbili, Vizianagaram, Kottavalasa, Pendurti, Simhachalam North, Duvvada, Samalkot, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada Junction, Guntur, Miryalaguda, and Nalgonda. This comprehensive stopping profile provides crucial regional connectivity for travelers from the interior belts of Odisha directly to the Hyderabad metropolitan area.
To accommodate a wide range of passenger requirements, the train is configured with 21 coaches. The composition includes 12 Sleeper Class coaches for budget long-distance travelers, 6 General Second Class coaches for unreserved commuters, 1 AC Two-Tier coach for premium travel, and 2 Luggage-cum-Divyangjan friendly coaches designed for improved accessibility and baggage space.
The choice of Charlapalli as the destination terminal reflects Indian Railways’ ongoing effort to utilize newly developed satellite terminals around major metros to decongest overcrowded stations like Secunderabad and Hyderabad Deccan. Charlapalli provides modern infrastructure, upgraded platform capabilities, and convenient road connectivity into the twin cities.
Passengers planning to travel on this special train are advised to verify live running status, seat availability, and booking details via the official National Train Enquiry System (NTES) website, mobile application, or authorized IRCTC ticketing channels before embarking on their journey.
