Kalikesh Demands Dam Structure Failure Probe

Balangir: Widespread concerns over construction standards and public safety have erupted following reports of extensive damage to the newly built Chattamakhana Dam. Structural failures, including major cracks and wall breaches along the dam embankment and protective stone structures, have raised serious questions regarding the execution and integrity of the project.

Balangir MLA Shri Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo has raised severe concern over the incident, pointing to potential corruption and administrative failure. Allegations have surfaced that the contractor modified the original design after the tender was awarded, raising questions about whether unauthorized technical changes compromised the dam’s structural integrity.

Addressing the issue, Shri Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo demanded an immediate, high-level probe into both the design alterations and the quality of materials used in construction. He stressed that accountability cannot be delayed when public safety, public funds, and agricultural livelihoods are at stake.

Local residents and farmer groups have voiced sharp concern over the sudden failure of the newly constructed facility. The demand for transparent answers and strict legal action against responsible contractors and sanctioning authorities continues to intensify across the region.
