Bhubaneswar: Bihar Sports and Industry Minister Shreyasi Singh concluded her four-day official visit to Odisha today, ending her trip at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar with a high-level meeting alongside Odisha Sports and Youth Services Minister Suryabanshi Suraj. The discussion centered on enhancing inter-state cooperation in sports, implementing athlete exchange programs, integrating sports science, and scouting grassroots talent.
During the meeting, Ms. Singh commended Odisha for its world-class sports infrastructure and High-Performance Centres, while noting that Bihar is also making rapid strides in developing its own sports facilities. To maximize the impact and reach of these facilities, she proposed hosting friendly matches and player exchange initiatives between the two states. She also outlined Bihar’s ambitious rural initiative, which involves building sports infrastructure for football, volleyball, basketball, and cricket practice pitches across every Gram Panchayat in the state.
Addressing the long-term well-being of young athletes, Ms. Singh emphasized the necessity of sports science awareness programs. She advocated for educating players on critical factors such as injury prevention, proper nutrition, and adequate rest to sustain their performance and health.
Concluding her visit, Ms. Singh expressed her deep appreciation for the hospitality extended by the Odisha government. She shared that her pilgrimage to the Lord Jagannatha Temple in Puri, along with the cleanliness and greenery of Bhubaneswar, brought her great joy, adding that Odisha’s sports development model serves as an inspiration for the entire nation.
