Bhubaneswar: Dr. Mrinalini Darswal, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department, led a high-level review meeting in Bhubaneswar on July 3, 2026, to evaluate the progress of the Suposhita Mission across several key districts.
As the driving force behind the state government’s efforts for women and child care, Dr. Darswal presided over the session held at the department’s conference hall, which combined in-person and virtual participation.
The meeting was also attended by Director Monisha Banerjee, Additional Secretary Sumitra Pattnaik, and other senior departmental officials. District Social Welfare Officers, Child Development Project Officers, supervisors, and grassroots workers from Angul, Balangir, Bargarh, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Khordha, and Puri joined via video conferencing to assess regional performance.

The discussion focused heavily on refining the operational framework of the Suposhita Mission. Key agenda items included the implementation of specialized training modules for supervisors and Anganwadi workers, alongside the establishment of a more robust performance evaluation system. A significant portion of the review was dedicated to analyzing Anganwadi centers that have been underperforming. Officials scrutinized the data uploaded to the Poshan Tracker to ensure accuracy and consistency.
During the session, Dr. Darswal and the leadership team emphasized the necessity of improving the quality of field data and enhancing the overall delivery of services at the community level. The department issued specific guidelines and strategic advice to ensure that Anganwadi centers meet established quality standards. The meeting concluded with a clear directive to prioritize data integrity and accountability, aiming to strengthen the mission’s impact on nutritional outcomes for women and children across the participating districts.
