AGRI PSUs Sign Pact

Bhubaneswar: The Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment has officially entered into Memorandums of Understanding for the financial year 2026-27 with four key state entities: the Odisha Agro-Industrial Corporation, the Odisha Agriculture Promotion and Capital Investment Corporation Limited, the Odisha State Seed Corporation Limited, and the Odisha State Cashew Development Corporation Limited.

During the signing event, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture, Farmers’ Empowerment, and Energy, Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, emphasized the importance of synergy. He called upon the corporations to collaborate closely with the main department to accelerate agricultural advancement and improve the livelihoods of farmers throughout the state.

Shri Sachin Ramachandra Jadhav, the Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department and Chairman of the State Corporations, led a significant administrative milestone by witnessing the signing of Memorandums of Understanding with four major state corporations for the financial year 2026-27.

The agreements were signed in his presence and to be executed by the Managing Directors of the corporations and representatives of the Agriculture Department, these agreements aim to drive the development of agriculture and farmers across Odisha through structured targets.

As the administrative head of the Department and chairman overseeing these bodies, Shri Sachin Ramachandra Jadhav will play a central role in guiding the ambitious targets set forth under these new agreements. Among the corporations, the Odisha Agro-Industrial Corporation has outlined plans to procure 54,000 tonnes of fertilizers, 8,400 tractors, and 1,200 power tillers. Under the Jalanidhi scheme, the corporation aims to implement 6,240 electric-powered lift irrigation points and 1,200 shallow tubewell projects, alongside targeting horticulture material sales worth approximately 24 crore rupees, all contributing to a projected total turnover of 1,200 crore rupees.

Furthermore, the Agriculture Promotion and Capital Investment Corporation Limited aims to establish 1,659 commercial enterprises with a targeted Capital Investment Subsidy of 330 crore rupees, allocating 300 crore rupees for the Mukhyamantri Krushi Udyog Yojana and 30 crore rupees for cold storage financial assistance. For cashew cultivation, the Odisha State Cashew Development Corporation Limited will undertake a hybrid cashew replantation program across 500 hectares of land and manage maintenance work for 761.22 hectares of existing plantations. Finally, the partnership with the Odisha State Seeds Corporation will focus on strengthening the state’s seed production and supply framework by introducing high-yielding, climate-resilient, and short-duration seed varieties, supported by joint training and capacity-building programs organized for government officials and seed farmers.
