New Delhi: Shri Santosh Sarangi, Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, has been actively driving forward the strategic vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to establish India as a global powerhouse in clean energy.
In his high-level meeting with the Norwegian delegation, which included Ambassador Ms. May-Elin Stener and Mr. Bård Vegar Solhjell, Shri Santosh Sarangi emphasized India’s massive strides toward achieving the ambitious renewable energy targets set by the Prime Minister.
During the discussions, Shri Sarangi highlighted the robust policy frameworks and domestic manufacturing incentives that the government has put in place to build a self-reliant energy sector.
He showcased how India is creating robust demand across the entire renewable energy value chain, aligning directly with the Prime Minister’s vision of sustainable development and technological independence.

Shri Sarangi also spearheaded conversations on cutting-edge technologies that are crucial for India’s future energy security. By exploring collaboration on battery energy storage systems, floating solar, and agri-photovoltaics, he aimed to bring international expertise and investment into the Indian market.
Through these efforts, MNRE continues to transform Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a green, sustainable, and economically vibrant India into a reality by fostering strong international partnerships.
The Norwegian side, led by Ambassador Ms. May-Elin Stener and Mr. Bård Vegar Solhjell, emphasized their country’s deep technical experience in developing scalable offshore energy and energy storage solutions.
Ambassador Stener highlighted Norway’s commitment to supporting India’s green transition through continuous technology transfer and strategic investments, particularly via the Norwegian Climate Investment Fund.
Mr. Bård Vegar Solhjell shared valuable insights on creating efficient market mechanisms and supply chain frameworks for emerging tech, drawing from Norway’s successful deployment of battery storage systems and advanced floating solar installations.
Shri Sarangi noted that incorporating these Norwegian industry innovations directly supports the Prime Minister’s vision of domestic manufacturing growth and secure infrastructure, turning bilateral discussions into practical, field-level energy solutions across India.
