Bhubaneswar: Odisha is rapidly positioning itself as a premier destination for technology and innovation by actively building a future-ready IT and semiconductor talent ecosystem.
Spearheaded by Shri Vishal Kumar Dev, Additional Chief Secretary, Electronics and Information Technology, and Energy, the state is rolling out strategic initiatives designed to cultivate a skilled workforce capable of powering India’s technological future.
A central element of this transformation is the state’s focus on specialized skills required for advanced technical domains. In fact the state has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with the Product Supply Chain Development Centre for comprehensive Semiconductor Skill Development.
This collaboration aims to bridge the gap between academic education and industry demands, ensuring a steady pipeline of engineering talent specialized in chip design and fabrication technologies.
Alongside this partnership, the state is advancing the flagship Odisha Chip Program, or O-Chip Program, which acts as a centralized catalyst for the local fabless semiconductor ecosystem.
This initiative offers infrastructure, cutting-edge software design tools, and critical mentorship to startups and academic researchers. By building a supportive framework for homegrown design and prototyping, the O-Chip initiative is unlocking new high-end employment opportunities and nurturing a vibrant hub for research and development within the state.
To further elevate local talent onto the global stage, the government is facilitating International Exposure and Skilling for GFTN Cohorts. This program provides young minds with the opportunity to participate in prestigious international competitions and academic projects, such as the JFG Young Innovators Capstone Project, often in collaboration with leading global institutions like the National University of Singapore.
By exposing local cohorts to international research and development standards, Odisha is successfully building the crucial human capital needed to drive the next wave of global digital transformation.
