Smooth Rabi Paddy Procure

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Registers Procurement of 2049 Metric Tonnes of Rabi Paddy from 317 Farmers by 17 May. Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department, has smoothly commenced its Rabi paddy procurement operations for the current season, ensuring that genuine cultivators across the state face no hardships while selling their surplus produce.

According to the latest data released by the department up to 17 May, 2026, the volume of paddy arrival at various market yards, known as mandis, has reached 2049 metric tonnes. Demonstrating exceptional operational efficiency, the state has successfully completed the procurement of the entire arrival, registering 2049 metric tonnes of procured paddy during this short window. A total of 317 farmers have already participated in the process and successfully sold their paddy at the designated procurement centers.

Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, the Principal Secretary of the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department, is continuously monitoring the Rabi paddy procurement process across all eligible districts. To ensure hassle-free operations and maintain structural discipline, Shri Singh has directed district authorities and field officials to stay fully vigilant. Nodal officers have been deployed at every mandi to oversee daily operations, ensure real-time troubleshooting, and handle the challenges presented by early summer heat or unseasonal weather changes.

The state government has prioritised transparency and farmers’ welfare by mandating features like CCTV surveillance and Aadhaar-based verification at all points of collection. For the current season, the procurement is aligned with the standard state policies, with direct bank transfers ensuring that farmers receive their dues within 48 hours.

The administration has urged the farming community to connect with local authorities if any complications arise. Farmers facing any challenges or structural issues at the mandis are encouraged to report their grievances directly by calling the departmental toll-free helpline number 1967 for immediate assistance.
