NIC Hosts Blood Donation Camp

Bhubaneswar: The National Informatics Centre (NIC), Odisha State Centre, organised a voluntary Blood Donation Camp at its State Headquarters in Bhubaneswar to commemorate the birth anniversary of Padma Bhushan Dr. N. Seshagiri, the founder Director General of NIC.

The camp was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Debi Prasad Rath, Senior Medical Officer, along with the medical team from the Red Cross Regional Blood Centre, Bhubaneswar.

The programme began with floral tributes to Dr. Seshagiri, honouring his visionary contributions to the growth of information technology and e-Governance in India. Officers and staff members of NIC Odisha enthusiastically participated in the humanitarian initiative, resulting in the collection of 57 units of blood.

Dr. Ashok Kumar Hota, Deputy Director General and State Informatics Officer (SIO), NIC Odisha, distributed certificates and mementoes to the donors and appreciated their wholehearted participation in the noble cause.

As part of the observance, an awareness session on voluntary blood donation had earlier been organised on May 8 at the Dr. Seshagiri Memorial Hall. Shri Pradeepta Kumar Tripathy, former Consultant of the Odisha State AIDS Control Society and Vice-President of the Federation of Blood Donors’ Organisations of India, addressed the gathering on the importance of regular voluntary blood donation and its vital role in saving lives.

The programme reflected NIC Odisha’s commitment to social responsibility and humanitarian service while paying respectful tribute to the enduring legacy of Dr. N. Seshagiri.
