Sundargarh: Principal Secretary, Commerce & Transport Shri NBS Rajput highlighted the key features of the Annual Budget 2026-27 and said that it as a People’s Budget, emphasizing that it contains beneficial provisions for every section of society.
The awareness program, titled Know Our Budget, was held at the local Vikas Bhawan to educate stakeholders on the fiscal roadmap for the upcoming year.
The program was attended by a host of dignitaries, including Zilla Parishad Chairperson Shrimati Kunti Pradhan, Sundargarh Special Development Council Chairman Shri Santosh Amat, District Collector Dr. Shubhankar Mohapatra, and several Additional District Collectors and sub-divisional officers.
During his address, Shri Rajput noted that the budget prioritizes rural development, women’s empowerment, farmer welfare, education, healthcare, and infrastructure. He stressed the importance of transparency, urging officials to communicate budget details to the general public through Palli Sabhas and Gram Sabhas to ensure the benefits reach the grassroots level.
Dr. Uma Charan Pati, Controller of Examinations at Odisha State Open University, Sambalpur, joined as the keynote speaker. He provided a technical breakdown of the budget, discussing its objectives, the preparation process, and the relationship between State and Central financial planning. He explained that the 2026-27 budget is strategically aligned with the long-term goals of Viksit Odisha 2036 and Viksit Bharat 2047.
The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, allowing departmental officers and PRI members to discuss specific allocations. The gathering saw significant participation from block chairpersons and various government employees, all focused on the collective development of the district.
