CM Sets 15 L Ha Water Goal

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi today announced the state government’s ambitious target to irrigate 15 lakh hectares of agricultural land by 2029-30.

Chief Minister Shri Majhi, who also holds Water Resources portfolio today visited the Water Resources Department at Rajiv Bhavan at 10 am to review its operations and progress of the projects.

Upon arrival, the Chief Minister first visited the State Hydrological Data Center on the eighth floor. He monitored the water situation across various water bodies and rivers in the state and inquired about the real-time data management methods, which are crucial for the state’s water resources management.

Following this, the Chief Minister interacted with departmental officers, engineers, and employees across different sub-departments. He expressed his satisfaction with their work and encouraged them to enhance their commitment to meet the state government’s objectives.

After the detailed review, the Chief Minister announced the state government’s ambitious target to irrigate 15 lakh hectares of agricultural land by 2029-30. He also stressed the importance of ensuring that water is supplied reliably to the farthest points of the canal systems. To achieve these goals, he stated that the department would be transformed into a more efficient and smart office.

Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary, Water Resources Department, Smt. Anu Garg, Senior Engineer, Water Resources Department, Shri Chandrashekhar Padhi, and other senior officers were present during the Chief Minister’s visit.
